The Physio Rooms are a private physiotherapy clinic based in Wickham Bishops. This is easily accessible from Maldon, Great Totham and Witham.
The team is made up of three senior physiotherapists registered with both the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (CSP) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). This ensures we deliver a high standard of professional practice and keep up to date with current effective evidence based practice.
Here at The Physio Rooms we feel it is very important to give you the knowledge and tools so that you can understand your condition. We always have leaflets/handouts on conditions as we feel the more you understand your condition, the more effective our treatment will be.
We pride ourselves on or holistic approach, taking into account how your working environment, sporting activities and lifestyle can affect you.
We always provide a tailor made exercise programme which will be reviewed and progressed if necessary at every appointment.
We offer many different treatment modalities including acupuncture, soft tissue release, ultrasound and pilates.
Here at The Physio Rooms we have a fully equipped weights gym, which we utilise, when necessary, to offer the complete package for return to full fitness. Michelle, Amanda and Cam have vast knowledge and experience in strength and conditioning training, which forms an integral part of returning you to full fitness, whatever your sport may be.
We work very closely with Janie who is a fantastic pilates instructor - and offers a seamless transition for patients recovering from injury/surgery back to full fitness. Janie has her own Pilates studio in Kelvedon where she offers 1:1 or small group sessions.
Una is our bubbly, friendly and very knowledgable Rehab specialist who will visit patients in the comfort of their own home to work on mobility/exercise goals.
I graduated from Keele University in 1996 with a BSc Honours degree in Physiotherapy.I currently have 26 years experience in musculoskeletal physiotherapy and have worked in many different settings including NHS hospitals, Private Hospitals, Private Practice and Sports Clinics.
In 2000 I became an Extended Scope Practitioner within an NHS Hospital. In this role I have developed my assessment and diagnostic skills and attended courses to enhance knowledge in many different areas. I gained a Diploma in Injection Therapy which enables me to perform pain relieving steroid injections. I have attended courses to enable me to request x-rays, scans and blood tests to ensure an accurate diagnosis. In 2001 I gained further qualifications to enable me to practise Acupuncture. I qualified in TCM (traditional Chinese medicine) which is an all encompassing holistic approach to illness and injury and takes into account work/home/environmental stresses, diet and exercise habits. This information results in a unique treatment tailor made to every individual.
I started the Physio Rooms in 2014- and have never looked back! We have a lovely clinic space in a great location and are very lucky to work with lots of great patients.
I myself am hugely motivated by sports and fitness, participating in running, cycling, weight training and tennis. This means I fully understand the psychological as well as physical impact an injury can have on an individual, and the importance of returning to full fitness a soon as possible!
I graduated from the University of Essex in 2011 with an MSc in Physiotherapy. I have gained experience across multiple disciplines including acute inpatients, orthopaedics and paediatrics before specialising in musculoskeletal physiotherapy. I have worked within NHS and private settings as well as being part of the physiotherapy team for the London 2012 opening and closing ceremonies medical team for both the Olympics and Paralympics.
I have undertaken APPI (Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute) Matwork courses and Ante Natal and Post Natal Pilates courses. I integrate this into normal treatment sessions as well as instructing Pilates classes in small groups.
I have attended a variety of post graduate spinal courses and orthopaedic master classes. I am also interested in rheumatology and paediatric musculoskeletal conditions. I take a holistic approach to treatment considering all aspects of an individual's life and how all factors may be impacting on their current symptoms. I also place an emphasis on education, ensuring you understand what is happening, as well as empowering you to help yourself to stop recurrent injury and flare ups where appropriate.
I have over 25 years experience in the fitness industry - having worked in many different gyms and fitness environments.
I am level 3 qualified and have a realistic, relaxed, fun and friendly approach to exercise.
You will feel comfortable, challenged but not pressurised during my pilates sessions.
I am able to offer pilates on a 1:1 basis, or in a small class setting. I am based in Kelvedon, but am also happy to train people in their own home.
I love working with people pre and post op - hip and knee replacements and back issues are a particular speciality.
Please call me to discuss your individual requirements for pilates.

Acupuncture is a treatment derived from ancient Chinese medicine. Fine needles are inserted at certain sites in the body for therapeutic or preventative purposes.
Western medical acupuncture is the use of acupuncture following a medical diagnosis. It involves stimulating sensory nerves under the skin and in the muscles.
This results in the body producing natural substances, such as pain-relieving endorphins. It's likely that these naturally released substances are responsible for the beneficial effects experienced with acupuncture.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) explains acupuncture as a technique for balancing the flow of energy or life force — known as chi or qi (chee) — believed to flow through pathways (meridians) in your body. By inserting needles into specific points along these meridians, acupuncture practitioners believe that your energy flow will re-balance
A course of acupuncture usually creates longer lasting pain relief than when a single treatment is used.
